Matt Kuchar — 45th

Despite missing the cut at the Shell Houston Open, Kuchar had an impressive week at Augusta National. It wasn’t just the hole-in-one. With back-to-back under-par rounds on the weekend, including a 67 on Sunday, he was the top American in the field, winding up in a tie for fourth. It was his fifth top 30 finish in his last six starts, so he finally got a taste of contention in what’s been a boring stretch of solid but unspectacular golf.

Of course, Kuchar’s winning history at the RBC Heritage will also be a major calling card this week. Harbour Town was the site of his last PGA Tour victory in 2014, and he hasn’t slowed down since, finding the top 10 in each of the past two years. Always impressive tee-to-green, his game is in working order, so it looks like we’ve got our frontrunner.
