Adam Hadwin — 5th

A statistical juggernaut, Hadwin ranks 15th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: approach-the-green and 18th in strokes gained: putting. Those are the exact skills needed to succeed at the Valero Texas Open — the course’s large and tricky greens place a premium on proximity to the hole, and in the likely event of a misfire, a hot hand on the flatstick can be a round-saver. It doesn’t hurt that Hadwin has been tearing up the PGA Tour for much of this year. The 29-year-old has already won the Valspar Championship and finished second at the CareerBuilder Challenge, and he looks more than capable of making another run at a trophy.

He may have missed the cut at this event back in 2015, but Hadwin is simply a different player now. With a skill set to die for and his confidence higher than ever, expect low scores from him this week.
