Ryan Palmer — 161st

Palmer’s tie for 11th at Harbour Town was his best finish since last fall’s BMW Championship, so he’ll leave South Carolina with a kind of confidence he hasn’t felt in months. On the week, he ranked fourth in strokes gained: tee-to-green and tied for fifth in greens in regulation, so he should be ready to dial in his approaches at TPC San Antonio this week. Perhaps more importantly, the 40-year-old has found the top 15 in three of the past four editions of the Valero Texas Open, tying for fourth last year and for sixth in 2015. Inconsistent as he’s been this season, that’s one of the best track records in the field.

If history is any indication, Palmer will get going at some point this season — it’s just a matter of when. He has plenty of happy memories of this course, and with a bit of momentum from the Heritage thrown into the mix, this could be a big week for him.
