Texas Open: Power Rankings for TPC San Antonio
By Sam Belden
Charley Hoffman — 31st
Hoffman has been automatic at this event since it moved to TPC San Antonio back in 2010. He’s found the top 15 in every one of his seven starts, including a victory last year, a tie for second in 2011 and a tie for third in 2013. There are no guarantees on the PGA Tour, but Hoffman at the Oaks Course is about as close as it gets. Furthermore, he was in fine form before his Harbour Town mishap, posting three consecutive top 25 finishes. While he struggled with his irons last week, the other facets of his game actually looked pretty good.
Make no mistake — you shouldn’t ignore Hoffman’s poor performance in the Palmetto State. However, the fact of the matter is that this 40-year-old has contended at the Valero Texas Open in every season for almost a decade. With or without momentum, he’s one to watch.
