Kevin Chappell — 113th

Chappell’s solid finish at Augusta was mostly due to his ball striking, which he rode to a pair of under-par rounds on the weekend. For a guy who currently ranks 113th on the season in strokes gained: approach-the-green, that’s definitely an encouraging sign. Beyond that, he’s got some nice history with the Valero Texas Open, notching a tie for second in 2011 and a tie for fourth just last year. No one’s going to mistake him for a top-notch putter, but he knows these greens as well as anyone in the field.

He may be a bit of an enigma at the moment, but if this California native can find success at the Masters, he should be able to do the same at the Valero Texas Open. Look for him to carry his solid form over to this week.
