J.J. Spaun — $7,800

This San Diego State product is enjoying a nice rookie season, making 11 cuts in 16 starts to occupy the 48th spot in the FedEx Cup standings. Spaun looks headed for a solid PGA Tour career, and with his enviable skill set, that first victory may be coming sooner than you think.

The case for Spaun as a fantasy option is simple: the man is a terrific putter. He ranked ninth in the field in strokes gained: putting at the RBC Heritage last week, a reprise of the incredible skill he showed with the flatstick back in the early part of the year. If he can carry that momentum into this week, then he’ll have a great chance to contend — thanks to its large, undulating greens, tournaments at TPC San Antonio are sometimes reduced to putting contests. While he lacks experience at the venue, he’s a great statistical match, and he’s found the top 20 in two of his last three PGA Tour starts.

At $7,800 in DraftKings, Spaun is on the expensive side for a player making his tournament debut, but putting skills like his don’t come cheap. If he can stay hot on the greens, he’ll have every chance to take the trophy.
