Volvo China Open: European Tour DraftKings Picks
By Sam Belden
Li Haotong won last year’s edition of the Volvo China Open, but repeating should prove to be a daunting task.
The Volvo China Open grabbed my attention this week for my fantasy picks article. Here’s why:
The new-look Zurich Classic of New Orleans will be a treat for golf fans of all persuasions, but for fantasy managers, this week didn’t come without a bit of disappointment. DraftKings isn’t running any PGA TOUR games this week, meaning that many of us will spin the globe and migrate to the European Tour to get our fantasy fix. The Volvo China Open doesn’t have the best field in the game, but the challenge of DFS golf should be as compelling as ever.
If you’re a newcomer to European Tour fantasy, it’s easy to become stressed. Building the right lineup is hard enough during a regular week, and with unfamiliar courses and a new cast of characters, adjusting to a different circuit can be a tough. But even so, our basic fantasy principles still apply.
This week’s course, Topwin Golf & Country Club, is still relatively new to the European Tour — it saw its first competitive action at last year’s Volvo China Open, when Li Haotong torched it for a 22-under winning score. Can anyone follow in his footsteps?
Without further ado, let’s get to my picks for this week. Here are five solid bets for fantasy success at the Volvo China Open. Each player’s current position in the Race to Dubai is listed next to his name.
