Wells Fargo Championship: Top 5 DraftKings picks
By Sam Belden
Dustin Johnson will make his return from injury at this week’s Wells Fargo Championship, but does he make sense as a fantasy option?
DraftKings addicts got to take a breather last week, but PGA Tour fantasy games are back in full swing for this week’s Wells Fargo Championship. One of the circuit’s newer events, the Wells Fargo debuted at Quail Hollow Country Club in Charlotte back in 2003, and it’s been contested there every year since.
That will change this week. The PGA Tour is rightly loathe to double-dip when it comes to tournament hosts, and with Quail Hollow set to host the PGA Championship this August, the Wells Fargo has made a temporary move to Eagle Point Golf Club, located across the state in Wilmington.
With that in mind, this week’s tournament won’t have much of a bearing on future editions of the event, but it should still be fun to see how the players react to the unfamiliar course. The field isn’t terrific, but with world No. 1 Dustin Johnson in the mix, it’s no dud either.
Without further ado, let’s get to my projections for the Wells Fargo Championship. Here are five good bets for fantasy success this week. With no course history to draw upon, I placed a greater emphasis on recent results and overall talent. As always, each player’s DraftKings salary is listed next to his name.
