13 events, 1852 points, 3 wins, 6 top 10’s (avg. points/event – 142.462)

Last start: T5, Zurich Classic of New Orleans (59 FedEx Cup points)

Justin Thomas may have begun his PGA Tour career best known as “Jordan Spieth’s buddy”, but he’s quickly put that moniker to the side. Sure, they’re still friends – #SB2K18 should be incredible – but Thomas seems to be settling into the life of an elite Tour player, and his game has mostly been better for it.

Nobody’s ever taken more advantage of the early-season schedule than Thomas did this week, winning the CIMB Classic and sweeping the Hawaii swing. That capped off a monstrous run of four top-tens in five starts, and set the tone for what could still be a ridiculous year.

Unfortunately, Thomas’s results since then have been mixed. He’s missed three cuts in seven stroke play events, and although he briefly put it together for a T5 at the WGC Mexico, it’s difficult to find a lot of confidence now. Call it the blessing and the curse of such incredible early season success.

Thomas is the only player to move up this week, having overtaken Matsuyama in New Orleans. The team event had some great energy, and could be a building point for the summer run.
