Jason Day was the big winner at last year’s Players Championship, but can he make it back-to-back titles at TPC Sawgrass?

The PLAYERS Championship “fifth major” rumblings aside, despite what you may hear, there is no fabled “fifth major” in golf — any assertion to the contrary is either wishful thinking or a marketing ploy. That being said, if golf did have a fifth major, it would probably be the Players Championship. With a larger-than-life venue to go along with one of the deepest fields in the game, this event is one that the players really want to win.

The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass is an old favorite, but PGA Tour fans will get to see a slightly different version of the track this season. It’s undergone several changes within the past year — notably, the 12th hole is now a drivable par 4, while the sixth and seventh also have revamped designs. But don’t worry — most of the course’s most beloved features, including its signature par-3 17th, are the same as ever.

The revamped course won’t be the only reason to tune in — this field is teeming with the best players in the game, including every one of the top 10 players in the world. Without further ado, let’s get to my projections for this week. Here are 10 solid bets of fantasy success at the Players Championship. Each player’s current position on the FedEx Cup points list is listed next to his name.
