Rory McIlroy — No. 2

He may not be the No. 1 player in the Official World Golf Ranking but there’s little debating that McIlroy is the top frontrunner to take THE PLAYERS Championship this week. With his enviable combination of course history and form, it seems the sky is the limit for this four-time major champion.

In just five starts this year, McIlroy has already picked up four top-10 finishes, including a tie for fourth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and a tie for seventh at The Masters. While it’s been a while since he was truly in contention for a win on Sunday, the fact that he’s continued to post low rounds is certainly encouraging. Also encouraging is McIlroy’s track record at TPC Sawgrass — the Ulsterman has found the top 15 in each of the past four seasons, peaking with a tie for sixth three years ago. One of the PGA Tour’s top players in strokes gained, he should be able to improve on that career-best finish.

At $11,200 in DraftKings, McIlroy isn’t exactly a bargain option this week but quality comes at a cost. If you don’t play him, you’ll be missing out on the most proven commodity in the field.
