Race To Dubai update: Top 10 through May 10th, 2017
By Gary Healy
Next up on the list is lucky number seven, former Masters champ from South Africa, Charl Schwartzel. Like Pieters, Schwartzel has only played five Race to Dubai point events. While he has no wins just yet this year, the majority of Schwartzel’s events played have ended with great results.
In five events played, Charl has only one missed cut, two top 10’s, and a top 25. His first top 10 came at the Alfred Dunhill Championship earlier this year. His second came at the much higher profile Masters. This solo third-place finish amassed him just under 700,000 Race to Dubai points and sent him flying up the points leaderboard. Schwartzel’s ability to make most cuts in tournaments allows him to continually gain points as the season progresses.
The 2011 Masters champion, and 17th-ranked player in the world, looks to be in good form following his top-five finish at the Masters. Schwartzel has yet to play since then but should be returning to action soon. As long as he continues to come into shape and finish high in major championships, he should be able to hold onto that top-10 spot.
