While the field isn’t as strong as it was last week at THE PLAYERS Championship, the AT&T Byron Nelson has some star power and plenty of stories to tell. Here are five groups to watch on Thursday and Friday.

Byron Nelson once said that “the only shots you can be sure of are those you’ve had already.” So with that in mind as the PGA TOUR heads to the Dallas area for the tournament named for the five-time major championship winner, the field of 156 at the AT&T Byron Nelson all have a chance to start fresh this week. Okay, maybe that’s a little corny or cliché but you know what I’m saying.

The Byron Nelson used to be a must-play event on tour but over the years, it’s become somewhat of a “B” tournament, wouldn’t you say? But that doesn’t mean that there’s still not some big names in the field this week at TPC Four Seasons. Four of the top six players in the Official World Golf Ranking are here, including defending champion Sergio Garcia, who won his second Byron Nelson (his first win came in 2004) in a playoff against Brooks Koepka, who held a three-stroke lead heading into the back nine but faltered down the stretch, thus allowing Garcia to essentially sneak into the playoff and win it with a par after just one hole. Hometown boy Jordan Spieth, also in the field this week, played in the final group alongside Koepka but a 4-over 74 that included six bogeys knocked him from contention.

Also in the field this week are world No. 1 Dustin Johnson and world No. 4 Jason Day, both of whom are coming off disappointing finishes at THE PLAYERS Championship and will be looking to rebound. Both are in solid groups for the first two rounds so let’s take a look at those and also a few others groups to watch on Thursday and Friday at the AT&T Byron Nelson.
