Official World Ranking: 215

FedEx Cup: 61

Best Nelson Finish: Missed Cut, 2014 (only prior experience)

Is there any room left on the Kevin Tway bandwagon? Maybe, maybe not, but if you aren’t paying attention to the 215th ranked player in the world this week, you’re doing it wrong.

Tway’s 2016-17 season started about the way you’d expect for someone who hadn’t played a full PGA TOUR schedule in the last two years. From October through March, Tway played 11 tournaments, making seven cuts but never truly contending.

Tway skipped the Shell Houston Open and the RBC Heritage, giving himself a month off following the Puerto Rico Open. On his return, however, he finished tied for third at the Valero Texas Open. That wasn’t a one-off, and he followed it up with a third-place effort at the Zurich Classic, and a tie for fifth at the Wells Fargo Championship.

The only question remaining seems to be how long Tway can keep this torrid streak of golf up. When you first see Tway hit the ball, the first thing you’ll notice is his power. He currently ranks seventh on Tour in driving distance, averaging 305.6 yards off the tee. This gives him the ability to take advantage of Four Seasons’ par-5s, something he’s been doing all year; Tway is 21st on Tour in par-5 scoring, despite slightly over-par scores on par-3s and par-4s.
