Dustin Johnson maintains his iron grip on the FedEx Cup lead, but with the major schedule heating up, can someone else rise up and join his level?

The FedEx Cup points race is heating up as the season progresses. THE PLAYERS Championship may not ever be the actual “fifth” major, but when it comes to the huge cash prize – about $1.9 million for winner Si Woo Kim – and the FedEx Cup points available, the players sure treat it like one.

This week’s update features a fairly steady top ten, but it’s only fair that we recognize the week’s biggest movers and shakers. Kim, obviously, was the biggest winner of the week, with his 600 point victory moving him up 111 places to 21st. A back injury forced Kim to withdraw from this week’s AT&T Byron Nelson, but he’s definitely one to keep an eye on.

TPC Sawgrass also gave some players closer to the top ten a needed boost. Brooks Koepka moved from 17th to 14th place, Mackenzie Hughes from 20th to 17th, and Francesco Molinari from 30th to 24th. The only significant drop-off came from Justin Rose, whose T-65 finish at THE PLAYERS opened the door for him to be pushed down to 11th.

There’s still a lot of golf left to be played this year, with three majors and 16 total points events before the FedEx Cup Playoffs begin in late August. Let’s jump into this week’s top ten update.
