3. Justin Thomas

1855 points, 14 events (132.5 avg.)

3 wins, 6 top 10s

Last two weeks: DNP – Wells Fargo; T75 – THE PLAYERS (MDF)

Justin Thomas was holding firm in second place in the FedEx Cup points race up to the PLAYERS, but a disappointing MDF earned the three-time winner just three FedEx Cup points, and dropped him to third place. Still, with a nearly 400-point cushion over the rest of the field, it’s hard to see Thomas dropping any further without simply getting beaten.

Through the rest of the season, Thomas will be able to focus on the majors, as well as picking some of the best spots for his game on a week-to-week basis. It will be interesting to see how Thomas handles the three-week stretch in June that could take him from the U.S. Open, to the Travelers Championship and Quicken Loans National.

In 2016, Thomas finished T12 at the National, and shot a Sunday 62 at TPC River Highlands to finish tied for third. Having those two events immediately following the U.S. Open could make things more difficult, but if he’s playing well, it could also be a huge pickup for what has become an up-and-down couple of months.
