6. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005

The fun Tiger Woods 2005 was the game standing in between the current generation and the next generation of gaming and opened the door for coming games.

2005 was a fun year for the Tiger Woods series. It introduced some exciting courses such as Coeur’ D’Alene and also had nearly all of the sport’s greatest legends, from Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus to Gary Player and Seve Ballesteros. The roster was loaded.

The game also featured an amazing swing creator, which allowed you to make the swing you always wanted. Added player customization allowed you to perfect your golfer’s looks and attire to suit your personal tastes. You also were given the ability to change the look of some of the courses. This is thanks to a feature called “Tigerproofing”,  where you can earn the ability to change the color of fairways and the way the bunkers look among other things.

Then there is “Tiger Vision,” an in-game special ability that allowed you to read tricky putts with supernatural vision. It came in handy when you had a tough putt to sink in order to win a tournament.

Overall, the game in 2005 was still a very young installment of the series. It’s the last great game to perfectly blend the fun of arcade style golf with an authentic PGA Tour experience. Simply put, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 is one of the absolute best offerings in the franchise’s history. And it had one of the greatest intro songs ever (see video above).
