5. Links 2003

The one game that many golf fans bow down to as the king is one that shines bright as the perfect golf simulation.

Among many fans within the golf-gaming community, Links is highly regarded as the greatest golf game of all time. With a powerful Arnold Palmer Course Designer and gameplay ahead of its time, Links was a great game to welcome golf gamers into the 2000s.

With this course design tool named after The King, players were able to create any layout they wanted. Some even redesigned Augusta National (in video) to bring the joys of The Masters to the gaming world. The gameplay was beautiful, from the swings to player reactions after making a putt. The graphics were also ahead of their time, as the grass looks lush and green on the courses.

The game featured numerous golfers, including 2017 Masters champion Sergio Garcia, who graced the cover. The audio also played a major role in the immersion of the game, as you can hear the improved sound of the clubs, crowd and players.

The GPS mapping brought the golf courses to life, just another great way to add to the immersion. The perfect combination of gameplay, audio, graphics and customization make Links 2003 a game for the ages.
