13. Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds

The first Hot Shots Golf game of the next generation did a great job of keeping its main principles intact, making it fun for golfers and casual gamers alike.

With so many great games in the series, it’s hard to pick the best ones. Being a 90s baby, most of my gameplay came from the 2000’s, which brings us to Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds. Certainly the game was “out of bounds” but in a very fun way.

Hot Shots Golf has become iconic for the three-click system. It’s as easy as three hits of the X-button on the PlayStation controller for that perfect swing.

To use the legendary characters Sackboy and Sackgirl (in the video) from Little Big Planet is awesome in itself. The three-click system remains popular among golf gamers while the Tiger Woods series put the analog stick swing on the map.

Hot Shots Golf has become iconic for the three-click system. It’s as easy as three hits of the X-button on the PlayStation controller for that perfect swing. What made Out of Bounds such a great game was its ability to keep the same formula from previous installments, which helped immensely when entering into the then-new generation of gaming.

It’s also a rare game that provides arcade-style fun while still bringing an authentic golfing experience. Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds beautifully ushered this into the land of PS3 gaming.
