2009 Champion – Lucas Glover

Clemson product Lucas Glover won his championship five years after he played his rookie PGA TOUR season and four years after his first victory on tour at the Funai Classic. In many respects, Glover’s Bethpage Black two-stroke victory over Phil Mickelson, David Duval and Ricky Barnes marked the end of a mini-slump. But Glover’s career since his U.S. Open win has been lackluster and plagued by injuries.

Currently sitting at 124th in the OWGR and 39th in FedExCup points, Glover has enjoyed a modicum of success this season with top-10 finishes at Sanderson Farms, the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Still, Glover’s game is nowhere near what it needs to be for him to challenge the the leaders at Erin Hills. Glover will deliver a competent but not a standout game with few surprises.
