Official World Ranking: 6, FedEx Cup: 7

Colonial History: 2016 Champion, Top-15 in all four career starts

In any other year, this would be my automatic No. 1 pick at Colonial. The record speaks for itself. Spieth has played this event in each of the last four years, winning in 2016 and never finishing any worse than tied for 14th place. In recent history, at least, there’s nobody I’d want on my team at Colonial any more than Spieth.

However, as we know, this isn’t just any year. Spieth is still a phenomenal talent, but as I wrote the other day, he’s missing that certain “spark” that always seems to put him over the top. Statistically, he’s taken a sharp decline in his putting this season, and he’s missed three cuts in his last four individual events.

While I would stay away from Spieth in fantasy this week, I still believe that he’s got a chance to turn his year around in Fort Worth. Not only is course history on his side, but Spieth has always maintained a sense of where his own game is from week to week.

Even in the middle of this slump, Spieth is still talented enough that he can find his game at any time. When that happens, he’ll be a force to be reckoned with. With the U.S. Open just around the corner, he needs that to happen right away.
