More from Golf Power Rankings

Ian Poulter is a long shot this week but I can’t resist putting a home boy in the rankings. Wentworth is Poulter’s home course and while that probably won’t mean much because of the recent renovations, there’s no doubt that he brings a wealth of local knowledge to the game this week.

Poulter has had an up and down year and the confusion surrounding his PGA TOUR eligibility can’t help but have figured into his hot and cold performance. One can only hope that his game will level out now that he has a bit of job security. Still, there are two recent finishes that should make us all take notice: T11 at the RBC Heritage and T2 at THE PLAYERS. If those finishes are indicative of the new Poulter, look for some surprises this week, especially if he keeps his ball in play.
