Does Martin Kaymer have a 12th European Tour victory in his bag? I’m betting on it. Although he hasn’t hoisted a trophy since that 2014 U.S. Open win, which now seems so very long ago, he also doesn’t miss many cuts. He’s made 5 European Tour starts in 2017, made 5 cuts, and finished T4 at Abu Dhabi and T16 at The Masters. In 2016 he made 17 European Tour starts, missed 1 cut, and recorded 8 top 10 finishes.  One of those was a T7 at the BMW PGA Championship. Kaymer’s not finished.

He’s right in the middle of the stats in distance off the tee and putting but he’s well ahead of the pack in driving accuracy and GIR. This advantage will serve him well at Wentworth, where there’s going to be a premium of accuracy. And with the new greens, everybody in the field will be dealing with the same set of unknowns.

Kymer is a deeply experienced, very methodical and thoughtful player. That’s what’s going to be needed to get an accurate fix on the Wentworth West Course this year.
