William McGirt is the defending champion at this week’s Memorial Tournament. Who will follow in his footsteps and be the next to win the Golden Bear’s event?

The U.S. Open is fast approaching, but before we head to Erin Hills for the big week, it’s time for an event hosted by a man who’s won our national championship on four occasions: Jack Nicklaus. Held annually since 1976, the Memorial Tournament stands out on the PGA TOUR schedule for a number of reasons, including its usual world-class field and its annual celebrations of the game’s legends and pioneers.

A laundry list of talented pros will be at Muirfield Village this week, including Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Jon Rahm. All will have their eye on defending champion William McGirt, who last year became the latest on a list of winners that also includes Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Tom Watson and Justin Rose, just to name a few.

Rory McIlroy was also set to play, but he’s been forced out thanks to a lingering rib injury. That’s a disappointment for sure, but better he misses the Memorial than the U.S. Open. Keep in mind that the players in this week’s field are deep into their major preparations, and be sure to take stock of the state of their games.

Without further ado, let’s get to this week’s projections. Here are ten solid bets for success at the Memorial Tournament.
