Memorial Tournament: Top 10 Power Rankings for Muirfield Village
By Sam Belden
It’s been more than three years since Kuchar’s last PGA TOUR victory, and while he’s notched seven top-25 finishes this year, he hasn’t come particularly close to breaking that drought at any point. That said, the Georgia Tech product transforms into a different player at Muirfield Village, so his winless odyssey could be nearing its end soon.
The winner of the 2013 Memorial Tournament, Kuchar has authored a whopping eight top 15s at the event since returning to full-time PGA TOUR action back in 2007. That list also includes a share of second place in 2011 and a tie for fourth just last year, so if he’s going to win anything in 2017, this week looks like his best opportunity. As always, his balanced tee-to-green game should lead to plenty of opportunities. As far as form goes, he appears to have rebounded nicely after a lost week at TPC Sawgrass, posting a tie for ninth at the AT&T Byron Nelson and a tie for 12th at the Dean & DeLuca Invitational.
It’s been a while since the last time Kuchar was legitimately in the hunt for a win, but he’s got so much experience at this level — for him, contending for a golf tournament should be just like riding a bike. Expect big things this week.
