Lizette Salas – she’s getting herself back on track

Let’s start narrowing down the choices in Group 2 by setting 2017 Pure Silk Bahamas winner Brittany Lincicome to the side, as well as Karrie Webb, Catriona Matthew, Sandra Gal and Morgan Pressel. As fond as I am of these four, they’re not having a strong season.

Jodi Ewart Shadoff, Pornanong Phatlum, and Moriya Jutanugarn have all shown a stronger than average game recently.

Ewart Shadoff made a strong start to the season but then stumbled and missed the cut at the ANA Inspiration and again at the LOTTE. Still, since Hawaii she’s been steadily improving and with her game trending in the right direction and her links golf experience, Ewart Shadoff would make a reasonable addition to any fantasy team.

Phatlum, who also looked good early in the season, is a less attractive choice right now. Missed cuts at the LOTTE and last week at the Volvik make me think she may be trending down rather than up.

Moriya Jutanugarn finally seems to be emerging from the shadow of her younger and more powerful sister, Ariya (who’s having her own troubles getting into the winner’s circle right now). Moriya’s game is trending in the right direction and if I had greater confidence in her ability to navigate the Bay Course she’d probably be my pick.

Lizette Salas has struggled this year but I sense that with her father behind the ropes she made significant progress in recovering her game last week at the Volvik Championship. While she’s not the only good choice in Group 2, I’m going to take a chance here and put Salas on my Ladies Dream Golf team.
