4. Jon Rahm

1,708 points, 14 events (122 avg.)

One win, seven top-tens

Last two weeks: DNP Byron Nelson, T2 Dean and Deluca Invitational

Rahm finished just one shot behind winner Kevin Kisner at Colonial, proving yet again that there’s essentially no course that doesn’t suit his game. If any course would slow down “Rahmbo”, you’d have expected Colonial to do the trick. But as Rahm said during the week, if he’s going to be in the trees, he might as well be closer than anybody else.

Right now, the only thing that seems to be standing between Rahm and total domination is a measly one or two shots per week. His field-leading seven top-10 finishes are highlighted by a pair of runner-up finishes. One of those, of course, was at the WGC Dell Match Play, losing to Dustin Johnson, just like everybody else has this year.

There’s no silver bullet to “solving” golf, but at the same time, you simply don’t come this close this often without eventually converting again. There doesn’t appear to be a bad spot for Rahm anymore, and that makes him a strong challenger for the U.S. Open in just two weeks’ time. If he finishes the job, he’ll rocket up the board again.

Right now, Rahm is the only guy I believe has a shot to take DJ off the top before the Tour Championship. Don’t take your eyes off Rahm this summer.
