Ball Ground, Georgia

36 players for 2 spots

The smallest U.S. Open sectional qualifier will be held at Hawks Ridge GC.

Here, we have another 15-year-old vying for the U.S. Open. Kids, these days. This one is Akshay Bhatia, who’s already competed at Augusta National for the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship at Augusta National in 2014 and played in the 2017 Four-Ball with Grayson Wotnosky.

While dad Davis Love III is away at the Columbus qualifier, son Davis IV (a.k.a Dru) is staying close to the family’s residence in Sea Island. The 23-year-old recently completed his career at the University of Alabama.

Mr. 58, Stephen Jaeger, will also be in Georgia. The Tennessee native carded a 58 on the Web.com Tour in 2016, the lowest 18-hole score ever between the European, Web, PGA and senior tours.
