Ryan Palmer — $9,000
Despite running into trouble at his hometown Dean and DeLuca Invitational, Palmer’s game looks pretty good heading into this week’s event. His results have been all over the place this year, but his positive history at TPC Southwind should give him the boost he needs to get over the edge.
Palmer has survived to the weekend in each of his last five appearances at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, so he should be ready for whatever the course throws at him this week. What’s more, he came close to victory in a couple of those starts, notching a tie for third in 2012 and a solo fourth in 2013. The native Texan is hampered by one major problem — he’s a terrible putter — but he’s pretty solid across the rest of the board, ranking 21st on the PGA TOUR in strokes gained: off-the-tee and 22nd in strokes gained: approach-the-green. His recent results, while not outstanding, include a tie for sixth at last month’s Valero Texas Open.
At $9,000 in DraftKings, Palmer isn’t exactly a bargain option this week, but that course history is awfully enticing. Look for the veteran to put his Colonial mishap behind him and earn his salary this week.
