Dallas, Texas

58 players for 3 spots

World No. 1,922 Roman Robledo is your medalist at the Dallas section held at Lakewood Country Club.

The former Houston Cougar and Mackenzie Tour player made only one bogey all day and had a stretch of six birdies in eight holes en route to an opening eight-under 63. He graduated from the University of Houston in 2015 and will play in his first major.

Nick Flanagan of Australia grabbed the second spot at 11-under. The 32-year-old made a name for himself with three Web.com Tour wins in 2007, but has had a quiet career since. It will be his first major start since 2005. The world No. 1,922 (it’s as far as the rankings go) has one Web start in 2017, a missed cut.

High school senior and Texas A&M commit, Walker Lee, earned the final spot at 10-under. According to amateurgolf.com, Lee, 19, is a friend of elite junior golfer, Cole Hammer, as well as a pupil of World Golf Hall of Famer, Jackie Burke Jr.

The three unheralded qualifiers beat out first alternate and three-time PGA Tour winner, Ryan Palmer (-7).

Other PGA TOUR winners to miss the cut include Troy Matteson (-5), John Merrick (-5), Woody Austin (-2) and Hunter Mahan (-2). Hammer, 17, finished at four-under.
