Ian Poulter (OWGR – 83rd)

Ian Poulter is making the most of his second chance this year, bringing out a bit more of his famed spark since learning his PGA TOUR membership has been extended.

Poulter has made four of his last five cuts on the PGA TOUR, including a runner-up tie at TPC Sawgrass. The 41-year-old followed that up with a T-35 finish at the AT&T Byron Nelson, then headed home to play the BMW PGA Championship.

Poulter finished tied for 40th at Wentworth, then admitted that, perhaps, he was playing a bit too much golf. He withdrew from Monday’s US Open qualifier in Memphis, citing fatigue from a schedule that had him playing six events in seven weeks.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Poulter won’t be at Erin Hills. At 83rd in the world, Poulter can vault into the top 60 with a win at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. He hasn’t seen TPC Southwind since 2014, but he does have some positive memories to draw on, as he finished tied for sixth in that outing.

Poulter currently ranks 18th in strokes gained: tee-to-green on TOUR, but more importantly, he’s converting that into more red numbers, ranking 28th in adjusted scoring.
