U.S. Open: Who will be low amateur at Erin Hills?
No. 4 Scottie Scheffler
Scheffler might be the most accomplished player on this list when it’s all said and done. The former No. 1 junior had a tremendous career at the University of Texas and has led the Longhorns to the NCAA Championship finals.
He has a 2016 U.S. Open start under his belt and comes in showing fine form. He tied for second at the Big 12 Championship, earned solo third at the NCAA regionals and tied for third at the NCAA Championship. He led going into the final round at the NCAA Championship.
Playing with eyeballs on him won’t be anything new as he’s often been compared to Longhorn predecessor and Dallas native, Jordan Spieth.
Scheffler also placed top 25 and made an ace at a PGA Tour event at age 17.
He projects to be a solid professional and this week could give us a taste of what’s to come before he endeavors his senior year at Texas.
