Dustin Johnson finally nabbed his long-awaited first major title at last year’s U.S. Open. How will he fare in his title defense?

It’s U.S. Open week! The FedEx St. Jude Classic is finally in the books, and you know what that means: it’s time for my U.S. Open predictions! This year’s edition of the Open will feature a brand new venue in Erin Hills and a boatload of top players, so there’s plenty to get excited about this week.

While there’s no denying the unique appeal of The Masters, I have to admit that the U.S. Open is my favorite major championship — in fact, it might be my favorite sporting event period. No one tricks out a golf course like Mike Davis and his pals at the USGA, and while some criticize these layouts for being overly punitive, I think it’s sheer entertainment all the way through. I wouldn’t necessarily want to play these courses (not with those Sunday pin locations, anyway), but watching the world’s top players take on a staggeringly difficult challenge can be a real treat for golf fans.

Of course, we won’t know how this year’s field will take to Erin Hills until the first group goes off on Thursday morning. It certainly looks intimidating, but with rain in the forecast, I wouldn’t be surprised if the winning score is six-under-par or lower.

Without further ado, let’s get to my U.S. Open predictions. Here are ten PGA TOUR players who look primed for success at Erin Hills.
