U.S. Open: Top 10 Erin Hills fantasy power rankings
By Sam Belden
Adam Scott
This Aussie has had a great career, but with just one major title in his trophy case, he’d love to do some more damage while he’s still an elite player. Fortunately for him, Scott is highly experienced on the big stage and has been close at past U.S. Opens, so he should be capable of shooting some low scores this week.
Scott has picked up three top 10 finishes in his last five starts, a run that began with a tie for ninth at the Masters back in April. Since then, he’s added a tie for sixth at THE PLAYERS Championship and a tie for 10th at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, so his game has held up well on all sorts of different courses. At 17th on the PGA TOUR in driving distance and 15th in strokes gained: approach-the-green, he has the skill set to contend just about anywhere. He’s also found the top 20 in four of his last five trips to the national open, peaking with a tie for fourth two years ago.
Now that he’s more than four years removed from his first major championship, the time feels right for Scott to pick up another. It could easily happen this week at Erin Hills, a course that should prove hospitable to his powerful game.
