Justin Rose

This Englishman has reached a point in his career where major count is the only thing that matters, so you’ll have to forgive him for playing such a light schedule since the Masters. On the bright side, Rose has been consistently impressive this year, so he should be all systems go for the U.S. Open.

A former winner of the U.S. Open, Rose’s major moment came in 2013 at Merion Golf Club, where he shot a solid final round of 70 to outlast Jason Day and Phil Mickelson by two strokes. This year’s venue is a lot different — Erin Hills will be one of the longest host courses in history, while we’ll probably never again see one as short as Merion — but at eighth on the PGA TOUR in strokes gained: off-the-tee and 10th in strokes gained: around-the-green, he should be ready for whatever challenges come his way. Thanks to his solo second at this year’s Masters, that feeling of contending at a major is fresh in his memory.

While he’s played just two events in the last two months, Rose’s game should still be in working order, so don’t forget about him. He’d love to become the first Englishman ever to win multiple U.S. Open titles.
