U.S. Open: Top 10 Erin Hills fantasy power rankings
By Sam Belden
Jordan Spieth
This Texan endured a bit of a rough patch in the month of May, but just like we knew he would, Spieth has returned to form with a vengeance. The youngster has seen encouraging results in his last two starts, and if his game keeps heading in the right direction, a second U.S. Open title might not be far off.
Spieth will enter this week on the heels of back-to-back top 15 finishes, including a tie for second at last month’s Dean and DeLuca Invitational. As has been the case for much of the season, he was carried by his ball striking skills — the 23-year-old leads the PGA TOUR in strokes gained: approach-the-green and is fourth in greens in regulation, making him an incredibly dangerous player with an iron in his hands. His Chambers Bay win from 2015 stands as his only top 10 at the U.S. Open, but he does have a couple of additional top 25s to his name.
Spieth may not be playing as well as he was two years ago, but there’s still a lot to like about his game at the moment. Look for him to make a run at the trophy — if he can pull it off, he’ll snap a streak of six consecutive first-time major winners.
