U.S. Open: Top 10 Erin Hills fantasy power rankings
By Sam Belden
Jason Dufner
Hot on the heels of a huge comeback win at the Memorial Tournament, Dufner should bring a lot of confidence into this year’s U.S. Open. The Auburn product has a ton of experience on the big stage and has demonstrated an ability to tame these USGA layouts in the past, so look for him to shoot some impressive scores.
With nine top 25 finishes in 14 starts this year, Dufner has been playing well for months now — his recent win only solidified his frontrunner status. He turned in an outstanding ball striking performance at Muirfield Village, pacing the field in both strokes gained: approach-the-green and greens in regulation. What’s more, his U.S. Open track record is mighty impressive; Dufner has found the top 20 in four of the past five years, tying for fourth in both 2012 and 2013. A steady performer at the majors, he also won the 2013 PGA Championship, so this week’s intense spotlight won’t faze him.
Dufner may be older than your typical major winner, but don’t let that distract you from his impeccable form. He’s risen to the occasion at unfamiliar tracks before, and with his momentum, he’s more than capable of doing it again.
