Sung Hyun Park fascinates and intrigues me. She came late to golf, compared to others on the Tour, after a very successful athletic career as an Olympic archer. But it took her very little time to bring her golf game up to a high competitive level and watching her in competition I see that killer instinct at work.

Park leads the 2017 Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year race, and for good reason. She’s started in 10 events, made 10 cuts, finished outside the top 20 only twice, and recorded four top 5s. I look for her to hoist a trophy before her rookie year is finished.

She’s long and powerful off the tee and while she struggles to stay in the short grass she’s also very good at getting out of trouble and back into position. She ranked 13th on the Tour in GIR. Park’s weakness is putting, but she’s not alone in her struggles with her flatstick. I’m looking for her to get out in front and stay there this week, and to challenge for the lead.
