Call this the theory of converging trends. Paul Casey goes under the radar all too often, but is quietly putting together a very solid year.

More from Golf Power Rankings

The world’s No. 14 player has four top-ten finishes and 10 top-25s in 2017 so far. Prior to the U.S. Open, he was riding a streak of four straight stroke-play top-25s, and six in his last seven starts. With only two years’ experience at the Travelers Championship, he’s already proving to understand what it takes to win there.

In his 2015 debut, Casey went 64-65 on the weekend to force a playoff with Bubba Watson at -16. Despite losing that playoff to Watson (the best player in the tournament’s 61-year history), Casey came back in 2016, posting a respectable T17 finish despite closing with a Sunday round of one-over 71.

Casey will enjoy the setup of TPC River Highlands once again, where his remarkable iron play will be rewarded. Casey ranks fifth on Tour in greens-in-regulation percentage (70.79%), but has fallen off with some lackluster putting at times. If the flat stick is working early for Casey, he’ll be a strong contender once again in 2017.
