How many times can one player be listed in my sleeper category and still be a sleeper? I had him here at the AT&T Byron Nelson and then again at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. He clearly caught some extra motivation from those appearances, and finished tied for 13th and tied for 10th, respectively.

One of these weeks, I’ll push him to victory and that will keep him out of this column for the rest of the year. Could it happen at the Travelers Championship? Don’t be shocked if it does. He’s made the trip to TPC River Highlands for the last ten years running and he’s got two top-25 finishes there in the last three years.

In 2014, with a field nearly as stacked as it is this year, Campbell finished in a tie for seventh, just four shots back of Kevin Streelman, who birdied his final seven holes for the comeback win. Among those who Campbell bested that week: Jason Day, Dustin Johnson and 2017 U.S. Open champion Brooks Koepka.

Obviously those three are on a different level today, but the point stands. When Campbell is on and confident, he’s capable of putting up some great scores, especially on a track like TPC River Highlands.
