That sound you’ve been hearing is folks jumping off the Jon Rahm bandwagon. His ill-tempered displays at the U.S. Open and Memorial Tournament en route to missing both cuts have led some to wonder if Rahm has the demeanor to continue to play at an elite level.

There’s no doubt he has to keep his emotions in check, but he’s still only 22. He’s got good people in his camp, including Tim Mickelson, that will help steer his ship as he gets more comfortable on Tour.

Either way, Rahm is supremely talented as displayed by his win this year at the Farmers Insurance Open and four other top-10s. Before his two missed cuts, he hadn’t missed a cut since August 2016.

Despite this week being his first start on the European Tour, he’s still No. 3 in the Race to Dubai thanks to a pair of top fives in WGC events and a top 30 at the Masters.

Rahm’s played a lot of golf this year, so taking a tournament off last week should do him some good.  At 7,315 yards and without too much treeline on the fairways, the PGA TOUR’s 13th-longest driver should be at an advantage at Le Golf National.
