For a while there, it looked as though Justin Thomas was enjoying the fall season a bit too long. With three wins, a top-ten finish at the Safeway Open and a T23 at the WGC-HSBC Champions, it would have been easy for Thomas to sit back and enjoy this season with no real pressure from the FedEx Cup.

Maybe that’s what led Thomas to three missed cuts in five starts from February to March. Either way, he’s gotten back on top of his form lately, with three top-ten finishes in five post-Masters starts.

Lest we forget, Thomas just recently set the single-round scoring record at the U.S. Open with his Saturday 63. Even though a Sunday 75 pulled him out of contention, on a day when Brooks Koepka was running roughshod over all in his way, it may not have mattered at all.

What Thomas often lacks in touch off the tee (currently ranked 161st in driving accuracy), he’s more than making up for with his work on the green. Thomas leads the TOUR with a 4.69/round birdie average, and ranks 22nd in proximity to the hole on approach – no surprises there.

Plus, as he said on Twitter, maybe the weekend of rest after a missed Travelers Championship cut will help him recharge his batteries. Look for yet another solid outing from the former University of Alabama star.
