More Lost Clubs

Do you remember Michael Buttacavoli, the guy who plays primarily on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica and who was forced to withdraw from a U.S. Open qualifier when American Airlines lost his clubs? Well, it’s happened again. Buttacavoli flew to London for an Open Championship qualifier. He made it but his clubs didn’t – again.

And they say lightening never strikes twice in the same place!

Wie Secret Club

Not many golfers play the 11-wood, although I’ve had one in my bag for years. It’s sole job is to get me out of fairway bunkers and reliably advance the ball. It’s old and scarred from years of use and abuse and I get teased about it, until my competitors and companions see it in action.

Imagine my delight when I learned that Michelle Wie has added an 11-wood to her bag and put it to work at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

Wie and I share a deep affection for the 11-wood. She expressed my sentiments exactly when she confessed to Andre Both:

"I love it. It’s so easy to hit. It’s easier to hit than a blade five-iron, let me tell you that."
