The Greenbrier Classic returns to the Old White TPC in 2017, after flooding forced the event to be cancelled in 2016

The Greenbrier Classic takes the PGA TOUR to a course that didn’t host a tournament in 2016 for the second consecutive week. Of course, TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm had been off the schedule for a decade. The Greenbrier Classic, hosted at the Old White TPC, makes its return in 2017 after flooding forced the event’s cancellation last year.

One of the more popular events on Tour, the Greenbrier is known for tight competition. In its six-year history, no player has ever won by more than two strokes. The tournament has even gone to a playoff three times. That type of a bunched field brings a fun level of unpredictability to any tournament.

This year’s field boasts four of the world’s top 30 players, as well as a host of other big names. Greenbrier ambassadors Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson highlight the field, while inaugural champion Stuart Appleby and PGA TOUR Champions winner John Daly all join on sponsors’ exemptions.

What better way to close out a holiday weekend than with some power rankings? Let’s jump right in.
