Webb Simpson Greenbrier Classic

While Webb Simpson may have struggled to find a true level of consistency this year, it’s tough to argue with the results he’s put up. Simpson may never reach the heights of 2011 again – 21 top-25 finishes in 26 events with two wins – but this year marks his ninth consecutive with at least seven top-25’s.

The runner-up at this year’s Waste Management Phoenix Open, Simpson heads into this week’s Greenbrier Classic coming off top-ten finishes in two of his last four starts. He’ll find himself at home this week at the Old White TPC, where he’s four-for-six with a trio of top-tens on his resume. The most recent of those came in 2014, when he finished in third place behind white-hot Angel Cabrera.

Statistically, Simpson isn’t dominating in any one area of his game, but he’s become one of the best when he’s playing from just off the green. Ranked third in scrambling and fourth in sand-save percentage, Simpson is building his success off avoiding the big numbers. That’s a skill that will continue to reward him at the Greenbrier.
