PARIS, FRANCE – JULY 02: Tommy Fleetwood of England reacts after his birdie on the 13th hole during the final round of the HNA Open de France at Le Golf National on July 2, 2017 in Paris, France. (Photo by Andrew Redington/Getty Images) /

I’m of the opinion that winning two weeks in a row is very difficult to do. Tommy Fleetwood played brilliantly last week to beat a strong field at the HNA Open de France.

A statistic that blew me away from the European Tour was that if the world rankings were determined just off 2017’s results, Fleetwood would be ranked second.

It’s clear Fleetwood is playing as well as anyone in the world after his near miss at the U.S. Open and BMW International Open in recent weeks. If he can regroup to keep his form going, I’m happy to eat crow for having him this low.

Fleetwood doesn’t have a strong track record on links courses, but his combination of 10th in fairways hit and third in greens hit on the European Tour this season should travel most anywhere.
