Rahm cooled some of the hot takes suggesting he was entering a decline after missing the weekend at the Memorial and U.S. Open on the PGA TOUR.
In his debut at a non-co-sanctioned European Tour event last week, he recaptured the form that has him in contention for a Race to Dubai title with a steady T10 finish at the HNA Open de France.
I’m a little wary of Rahm’s high ball flight holding up on a course where wind and weather are expected to be part of the challenge. He doesn’t have a big pedigree on links courses, though he made the cut as a 21-year-old at last year’s Open Championship.
Even if he’s a little wayward, the rough at Royal Portstewart isn’t too penal and his short game has been magnificent when needed. It’s not needed all too much, though: He’s 15th on the PGA TOUR in greens in regulation.
