Sullivan was in line to compete for the title last week in France before fizzling for a 74 in the final round. He also had an outside chance to win at the Nordea Masters (T8) last month and with eight made cuts in a row, he’s as much of a lock as any to at least make the weekend in Ireland.

Sullivan also played well the last time the Irish Open came to Northern Ireland, tying for sixth at Royal County Down in 2015.

This appears to be a week where accuracy and a short game are keys to victory, which are staples of Sullivan’s game when he’s playing well.

He also has top-12 finishes at last year’s Open Championship and Scottish Open on links courses to build off of.
