PARIS, FRANCE – JULY 01: Thomas Pieters of Belgium plays his third shot on the 6th during day three of the HNA Open de France at Le Golf National on July 1, 2017 in Paris, France. (Photo by Andrew Redington/Getty Images) /

Pieters has done well to show he’s not a one-hit wonder this season after his strong play last summer and in the fall’s Ryder Cup.

He’s been in contention at big PGA TOUR events like the Masters, WGC-Mexico Championship and Genesis Open. Most recently, he was in position to make a charge at last week’s Open de France before a final round 74 submarined his chances.

Having played only thrice since Augusta, the 25-year-old Pieters should have plenty of gas left in the tank to play well here and in weeks to come.

Pieters hasn’t had much of a chance to play too many links tracks, but his putting makes him a favorite most anywhere.

He’s seventh on the European Tour with 28.0 putts per round. Pieters is known to flight the ball high, which could be his main detriment this week.
