Thornberry Creek Ladies Dream Golf fantasy picks
The Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic fantasy picks give several lower-ranked players an opportunity to show fantasy managers what they have in their bags. Take a risk and give them a chance at this inaugural event.
The inaugural Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic, coming the week before the U.S. Women’s Open, offers a field absent many of the high-ranked players who are typically reliable picks for fantasy managers. We can give some of the lower-ranked players an opportunity to join our teams. Who knows – we could discover some new standouts this week who will serve us well as the 2017 season progresses.
The par-72 Thornberry Creek at Oneida, the official Green Bay Packers golf course, will play 6624 yards this week. The track takes the field to a classic Northwoods setting on a bentgrass championship course that changes constantly from hole-to-hole. With more than 70 sand bunkers and 11 water hazards punctuating the course, precision shot-making will be at a premium this week. This video flyover of the Thornberry Championship course will give you a sense of what the field will encounter.
It’s a new golf course for everybody, so with only practice rounds and and the pro-am for experience, expect a certain equalization of the field in the absence of prior local knowledge. I’ll be looking almost exclusively at recent performance as the criteria for my fantasy picks.
Aside from a few scattered thundershowers on Thursday, the weather will be perfect – daytime temperatures in the high 70s-low 80s, light winds – just enough to keep things interesting – and humidity hovering around 60%.
My fantasy picks are based on the Ladies Dream Golf Pick-4 contest, but my field review will provide tips and guidance for other fantasy golf games as well.
